Guide 4: Operate integrations and data jobs

Make data movement visible enough to detect, explain, and recover from failure.

Create an operating inventory

For every automation, import, export, sync, report job, or API connection, record its purpose, source, destination, schedule, owner, credential owner, expected result, and dependent work.

Mark manual steps, vendor limits, maintenance windows, data classifications, and the person who can decide whether a failed job may be rerun or bypassed.

Monitor the business result

Track freshness, completeness, exceptions, duplicates, retry state, and reconciliation where the mission process needs them. A successful connection can still deliver late, incomplete, or incorrect records.

Route alerts to an owned queue with severity and communication expectations. Avoid notifications that reach one inbox without a backup or response rule.

Rehearse recovery

Use approved safe data to test failure detection, pause, retry, reconciliation, rollback, manual continuity, and closure evidence. Record who may execute and who must approve each response.

Review repeated failures as service problems. A permanent manual workaround may be a conscious decision, but it should have an owner, cost, risk, and review date.
